FIVE men age 20 and up to be chorus boys/showmen. You need to move and have rhythm. These five will also double as other minor speaking roles.
PLEASE PREPARE:
ONE SONG composed by Stephen Sondheim (it is also always a good idea to bring a contrasting song "just in case" which does not have to be Sondheim).
ONE CONTEMPORARY MONOLOGUE (max 2 minutes). If you do not have one we will have you do a cold read.
Please Note:
Due to the very short rehearsal process (approx 40 hours), missing any rehearsals is non-negotiable. If you are unable to commit to the entire rehearsal/performance schedule please do not audition.
Callbacks take place within a couple days of the auditions, again downtown Vancouver. All those being called back must first audition.
Bring a photo (headshot or snapshot) and a resume or detailed bio outlining past music experience and/or training.
Please have your music three-hole punched and in a binder for the accompanist provided. If using bound music books please have music clearly marked.
APPLAUSE! welcomes anyone to audition but aims to find people who read music, or learn music quickly (we rehearse an entire show in one week). Special importance is also placed on casting – then showcasing new talent who have had formal training in theatre or music looking to further their pursuits in the performing arts.
In order to constantly be working with new people it is a general guideline to not cast those who have performed in a leading role in the last two concerts in another leading role. HOWEVER, based on who comes out, we will cast the best person for the roles. Please do not let this be a deterrent to coming to audition.
As an amateur society we do not pay our performers unless they are members of Canadian Actors Equity or ACTRA/UBCP (under special arrangement and permission)
If cast you are required to make a $20 donation to the Society which is eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
